Chula Vista Gets a $1.1 Billion Bayfront Resort, Convention Center

The Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners approved a coastal permit that will allow construction for a $1.129 billion-dollar resort on the Chula Vista Bayfront which is expected to be completed by mid-2023.

The new Resort and Convention Center will be located on the western edge of Chula Vista and will feature a hotel tower, be a new part of the Harbor District, and will be a major upgrade to the bay by cleaning up any industrial degradation and allowing the local community to access the water. The hotel and convention center will include a parking garage with around 1,600 car spaces, utilize rideshare, mass transit, and shuttle system to get around the limited parking situation. The 37-acre land lease will go into effect for the next 66-years.

Construction will begin around mid-2020.
