Lorde turned 21 years old on Tuesday (Nov. 7) and ahead of playing two shows at home in her native New Zealand, she decided to embrace the gift of giving as a way to celebrate a new year of life.
On Monday (Nov. 6), leading up to a show at Dunedin, Lorde tweeted, "DUNEDIN: left a little package in the city library behind this book. see you tonight," with a target emoji, pointing to a secret present she left for one lucky fan.

It didn't take too long before a fan, @EmJUson on Twitter, got to the package first and revealed that her prize was two tickets to the upcoming show and a t-shirt drawn on by Lorde (birth name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor).

The following day, Lorde had arranged yet another scavenger hunt -- this time in Christchurch, New Zealand, behind a sculpture of a gorilla sitting on a bench.

It seems Lorde's birthday gift in return was fans flocking to Dundedin and Christchurch, for which the pop star expressed great gratitude on Twitter.
